A TYPICAL SUMMER DAY AT LAKE ANN CAMP

WHAT TO EXPECT

A TYPICAL SUMMER DAY AT LAKE ANN CAMP

Heading to camp comes with a natural question: What do campers do all day?
It’s fair to wonder! Here’s a look at how a typical Summer camp day unfolds:

MORNINGS START WITH PURPOSE

Campers wake up, get themselves ready, and join their cabin group for breakfast. From there, it moves into God and I Time, a quiet, personal space to read Scripture and reflect before the day picks up speed.

Then comes chapel. Every chapel is designed to meet campers where they are. The teaching is biblical, the worship is energetic, and the questions it raises tend to spark conversation throughout the day.

The middle of the day belongs to activity

After lunch, the schedule opens up.

One of the hallmarks of a Lake Ann Camp day is free time. It’s an open time for campers to explore, rest, or simply be on their own terms. For many campers, that unstructured freedom is a place to grow and develop responsibility while picking an activity of their choice. There’s no shortage of options to pick from: they can head to the waterfront, hop into a game of octaball, compete in arcade games, grab a snack at the Red Canoe camp store, or try out the bouldering wall. And that’s just the beginning of the list! No matter the choice, it becomes one of their favorite parts of the week.

But the day isn’t just free time, the schedule is intentionally balanced with structure. Skill sessions, cabin time, group games, and directed activities also fill the afternoon hours. Some of it is physical activity, some of it is silly, but all of it is layered with intentionality.

Evenings are slower in pace, but still a blast

Dinner anchors the evening. Meals are fresh, communal, and filling. They’re a time when cabins become community, inside jokes get started, and silly songs get sung.

After dinner, campers head to their evening chapel. This chapel session is a special hour of the day where the energy shifts back towards worship and faith. Campers who come in wrestling with questions often find guidance and direction straight from God’s Word.

After chapel, each program typically has one more structured group activity before heading to bed.
Before lights out, counselors lead their cabin through a nightly wrap-up. It’s simple, spiritually focused, and conversational. A chance for campers to process what they’re thinking and feeling before doing it all again the next day.

Food

At a glance, a day of camp looks full — And it is

But underneath the free time, group games, and late-night wrap-ups, something else is happening. Every activity, every meal, every quiet moment is built to ready campers’ hearts for encounters with God. Nothing is accidental, and it’s built to remove distraction and meet campers in their unique stage of life.
