Ladies Retreat #1: September 22-24, 2016
Cost: $139 ($40 deposit required with registration)
Kelli Worrall is a Professor of Communications at Moody Bible Institute. Her first book, 20 Things We’d Tell Our Twentysomething Selves was coauthored with her husband, Peter. More information about the book and additional free resources are available at their website (www.peterandkelli.com). Kelli studied Communications at Cedarville University, Religious Education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (MRE), and Creative Writing at Roosevelt University (MFA). You can learn more about Kelli and read some of her writing on her blog: www.thisoddhouse.org. The Worralls live in McHenry, IL, and have two children through adoption: Daryl (7) and Amelia (4).
Kelli will be presenting a series entitled “Embracing Grace: Naomi’s Story in Three Acts.” She will teach through the Book of Ruth, looking at it through the lens of a good play structure. Kelli will open the series with a brief lesson in scriptwriting, since the book of Ruth is such a well-crafted narrative and then lead us in reading the entire book as a play. And we look at each “act.” The main themes that emerge are—what do we do when life doesn’t meet our expectations? How do we handle the obstacles that come our way? Throughout the book of Ruth, the concept of hesed (loving kindness, shown in a covenant relationship) is developed, so she will then unpack that idea and talk about what that might look line in our lives. Then, of course, the concept of God’s sovereignty and abundant grace is prominent.
Ladies Retreat #2: September 30-October 2, 2016
Cost: $139 ($40 deposit required with registration)
Speaker: Rachel Inouye
Rachel Inouye’s transparency and authenticity in her relationship with Christ makes an impact on the lives around her. She is a gifted communicator with great ability to articulate and apply God’s word in everyday language for everyday situations through stories and scripture. She desires to encourage women in their relationship with God. As a former educator and home school mom, she loves teaching. She is married to Michael and has two sons, Michael and Andrew, one daughter, Grace and one daugther-in-law, Amy (married to Michael). Rachel serves at Elmbrook Church in ministries that allow her to use her gifts of music and drama. She is energetic, eager and in love with her Lord. She brings radiant enthusiasm to the things in which she is involved.
Rachel will be speaking on Knowing Your Identity in Christ. Is your identity in crisis or in Christ? It can be easy to see ourselves the way others view us as teachers, parents, siblings, husband, children or friends. Or we easily listen to the voices in our head, but beware that could be the voice of the accuser. The enemy of your soul. God loves you! You are His masterpiece and He even sings over you. His voice is the most important voice of all. He knows everything about you and loves you. So whose view do you have of yourself? Whose voice are you listening to?
