Yes. LIFT requires at least one summer of counseling or program experience at LAC, including two weeks of Staff Training. That foundation is essential to what the program builds on.
Interns write a weekly paper, read required books on a rotating schedule, and complete all assigned coursework. Deadlines are taken seriously — there’s a three-strike policy for late work.
Online coursework may be permitted with supervisor approval, balanced against the program’s demands. Graduate students may also elect to receive credit through LAC’s partnership with Southern Baptist University.
Each intern participates in a missions experience focused on camp ministry in another cultural context. Interns are responsible for raising their own prayer and financial support. A valid passport is required.
Any gap between support raised and trip costs is the intern’s responsibility to cover.
No. The demands of the program require full availability. Outside employment is not permitted during the nine-month period.
Many LIFT interns move directly into summer staff roles. If your summer responsibilities begin before May 30, arrangements can be made with your supervisor for an early transition.
Submit an online application, connect one-on-one with our team, complete an interview, and receive program confirmation. We’ll guide you through each step.
READY? LET'S GO.
A year that will shape the rest of your ministry.
